  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup canola oil
  • ½ cup orange juice fresh squeezed
  • ¼ cup buttermilk or whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 2-3 tablespoons orange juice fresh squeezed


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8.5 x 4.5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the sugar and orange zest, rubbing the zest into the sugar to release the oils.
  4. Add the eggs, canola oil, orange juice, buttermilk, and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and whisk until well combined.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, cool the loaf in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Make sure to use fresh orange juice for the best flavor.
You can add nuts or chocolate chips for extra texture if desired.
