- 300 g fresh chow mein noodles
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp shao xing wine
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp kecap manis
- ¼ cup chicken stock
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp msg
- ¼ tsp white pepper
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 brown onion, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tsp grated ginger
- 1 celery, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- ½ cup sliced spring onion
Instructions
- Cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Shao xing wine, oyster sauce, kecap manis, chicken stock, sesame oil, MSG, and white pepper to create the chow mein sauce.
- Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Add sliced onion and sauté for a few minutes until it begins to soften.
- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped celery. Stir-fry for one minute until fragrant.
- Incorporate shredded cabbage and stir-fry for another two minutes.
- Add the cooked noodles, chow mein sauce, and half of the sliced spring onion. Toss everything together and stir-fry for two minutes until heated through.
- Remove from heat, garnish with the remaining spring onions, and serve.
Notes
For added protein, consider stirring in cooked chicken, shrimp, or tofu before serving.
Feel free to adjust the amount of vegetables based on your preference or what you have available.
The chow mein sauce can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
