Description

This American Goulash is a comforting, flavorful dish with ground beef, tomatoes, and cheesy elbow macaroni. It’s quick to prepare, making it ideal for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes undrained
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large deep skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly cooked; drain the fat.
  2. Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, brown sugar, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  3. Stir in the uncooked macaroni. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the macaroni is tender.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and fully combined. Let it stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add chopped onions or bell peppers when cooking the beef.
This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated for a quick meal later.
Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
